  I liked this hotel, in a nice locate for a gr8 getaway, nice room, very nice food and drink and local people are friendly in the pub. Bad points are; 1. I noticed no fire drill in the room. 2. Main door to the guesthouse left unlocked all the time so anyone can just wander in but of course your own room door locked. I stayed here just last night and felt very quiet when I was only one in the whole guesthouse until 'bout 11 when one couple turned up. 3; Owner tried to charge me twice for the evening meal but this was after I turned back at the reception to pay after breakfast and everyone had uped sticks and left which I found a bit unerring. 4; Local people are very rude and owner is deffo uninterested in running the hotel. 5: Room was dusty on the bedside table and on the booster heater. Area is so remote I fear this hotel may not stay in business even at end of March and only me and a couple staying doesn't bode well.

  I stayed at the Sonachan Hotel on 2 consecutive nights in June’12, in order to have a relaxed day tour of a great area: One excellent evening meal (we had phoned the hotel reception tel while driving to advise of our likely "9:30pm-ish" arrival), two excellent breakfasts, and one very good evening meal; bedroom fine; good atmosphere – if you’re prepared to go with the laid back ambience of the establishment – hence my Overall score of 3 / 3, to counter the (in my humble opinion) sour review/overall rating of zero elsewhere on this site, by a person apparently in a hurry!

  Wonderful location, with superb views from dining and lounge areas. Free wifi. Vegetarian food was very good, which is.quite unusual in Scotland. Fresh produce is grown across the road in the Community Garden. Sea food was also good, my companion tells me. Currently family run, and really they could not do enough for us.
